The barbiturates are nonselective central nervous system depressants which can be largely employed as sedative hypnotics as well as anticonvulsants in subhypnotic doses. The barbiturates and their sodium salts are subject to regulate underneath the Federal Managed Substances Act (See “Drug Abuse and Dependence” section). The sodium salts of amo
